Philadelphia Flower Show 2012

Our weather this winter has not been terribly cold and little snow has fallen.  Nevertheless, people from all Philly and  the East coast flocked to the annual Flower Show.  This event is truly a vehicle to get a glimpse of spring flowers just a few weeks away.

This year’s theme was Hawaii and it was a tremendous success!  Gorgeous light shows, a 30 foot waterfall, native dancing, large staged Hawaiian scenes, spot lit table arrangements, 1240 specialty home and garden shops and a luau cafe all contributed to the theme.

The exhibitors include local Philadelphia urban and suburban flower clubs, landscapers like Robertson’s Flowers of Wayne, Flowers by David, Stoney Bank Nurseries and 50 others.

Of course this floral extravaganza is breath taking.  Where else in the beginning of March can you easily go and see spring tulips and daffodils and smell roses before your garden can produce them?  It simply takes your breath away.

Parking is not a factor if you go during off hours.  It’s so easy to get hooked on the sights. Be prepared to be at the show for hours.  It’s best to wear comfortable clothes and shoes.
